Walking the talk can sometimes be very difficult to do. As a marketing coach and consultant, I’ve spent the past several years helping small business owners, entrepreneurs and solopreneurs develop strategic and tactical marketing plans for their businesses.    It’s been both rewarding and challenging at the same time.
Some like Trish Funk from Finances with Funk and Zahn LaScott of Zahn’s Melange, have taken action and are working towards growing their businesses into thriving entities.  Others have argued with me, taken no action or been inconsistent and then concluded that digital marketing isn’t effective. Through it all, I’ve gained incredible insight to the everyday challenges that real people face when they start to incorporate online marketing into their business.
Looking back, I realize that I was so busy “helping others” that I ignored my own business. All too often I was embarrassed when someone asked for my website and would make some passing comment about my website being the victim of “cobblers child” syndrome. Frankly, if I had the chance to relive the past two years I would have spent more time on me and less time trying to convince people that I could help them.
Truthfully, had I walked my talk, I wouldn’t have had to convince people. Instead, the right people would have found me.
A few weeks back I had the amazing opportunity to take part in Working Strategies for Women, here in Redding, CA. Tonight is the last night of the eight week program and I’m leaving the program with an expanded vision for my business. Why, because I took the time to focus on me and my business. I literally spent just 15 minutes a day doing just one thing each day for my business. What a concept, eh? Yes, even a coach needs a coach sometimes.
Tonight I look forward to the next phase with optimism and excitement. In fact, I’m so motivated that I’m taking on another challenge called the Quick Start Challenge. I expect the Quick Start Challenge to push me to new levels of consistency and allow me to truly help those who are ready to hear my message. Such a blessing this is.
I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk. ~ Tony Robbins

Hi Kate, I really like that idea of spending 15 minutes a day doing one thing for your business. It soon accumulates I guess. I’ll start “walking the talk” by applying that and also bookmarking your blog so I can check back on more advice đŸ™‚ Good luck with the Quick Start Challenge!

Hi Kate,
15 minutes a day or one thing a day is such a simple concept but I like it. With consistency and the right coach, success in inevitable. Wish you success in the challenge.
Hey, Kate.
I really like the idea to stop convincing people that they need your help. I have had a lot of problems when I tried to help my friends who haven’t asked for it. That’s why before couple of years, I decided the same as you – help when they ask. I think that this is very important lesson which we have to learn.
Thanks for the shared experience
Hi Kate, I think your right about setting aside some time everyday to work on improving your business. It seems like a small task at just 15 min a day but it really adds up over time!
Best,
Bryan
HI
Nice to hear that even a coach needs “coaching” sometimes. It is a great pleasure to interact with others online. Sometimes we might need advice sometimes we might be able to give advice. Whatever case it is – i enjoy it – and i hope you too, as it is your proffession đŸ™‚
I wish you all the best,
Richard
Hi Kate,
I can relate to spending time on everyone elses business rather than my own and I’ gonna take a leaf out of your book and just take that initial 15 minutes a day to work on mine
I look forward to following your journey

Hello fellow quick starter, happy to see we are all up and blogging. Some good advice there.
Good luck in your journey.
This is a great post Kate! I definitely understand what you mean about walking the talk. I too have fell into the trap of helping others instead of myself and when they ask for something of mine for proof I’m embarrassed cause i could not show them. Procrastination has also been one of my biggest problems and not focusing on one thing. I like what you say about 15 minutes a day on one task. It may seem small but I’m sure it will make a significant change in my business. I like how you set your site up too. One of my most favorite things that you say in this post is “Even a coach needs a coach”. That is very true just like most bosses have a boss over them. I will be following your journey and your progress of this year moves ahead. Keep up the great work!
That is such an accurate statement Rodez. Thanks Rodez for the kind words. I too will be following your journey. Let me know how the 15 minutes a day works for you. Enjoy this journey.
Just stopped by to see what you’re up to and offer encouragement to you as a fellow “Challenger.”
I’m going to include myself in the group that thinks your 15-minute-a-day idea is great.
Good to see that you’ve got your sign-in form up and running already, too. (Yes, I’ve fallen behind on that.)
Here’s wishing you continued success.
Very best regards,
Thanks so much for stopping by Phil. I’m really surprised that the 15 minute a day tip has resonated with so many. Glad that you found it useful. Enjoy this journey.
Hello Kate,
What amazes me is that some people wouldn’t devote even 15 minutes to their businesses. Since I started the Quick Start Challenge, I’ve set aside a block of time every day. Whether it’s developing my blog, posting in forums, commenting on blogs, etc., I can see a massive difference.
I’m getting consistent traffic (not tons yet, but consistent) and developing my blog the right way. I’m confident that by the time this challenge is completed, I’ll have all the pieces in place
to finally have a successful business.
I wish you the best of luck moving forward. Action takers are the ones who will be rewarded.
Thanks for encouraging me to walk the talk! You’re an inspiration!
